Vocal Chord Disasters:
3 scenarios
Case
1
One professional vocalist in
Iowa
complaining of hoarseness thought that he had developed
laryngitis. When
he finally was seen by an ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat
specialist), cancer was diagnosed on the vocal chords.
Now, a single vocal pitch problem was the only symptom
of a malignant and life threatening situation.
Is your vocal instructor equipped to warn you of the
dangers and risks of poor vocal health?
By the way, it was KrisAdora who performed the strobe
observation to discover this mass on the vocalist and have the
ENT to make a firm diagnosis.
Case
2
In another case, a popular performer learned of my presence
nearly 10 years ago in the music industry at a southern music
conference. He
nearly backslammed me against the wall to report that 2
doctors in
California
had predicted that we would need surgery and never sing again.
They also told him his upcoming album deal was a waste
of time and energy because of his 1 vocal nodule and 1 polyp
on his vocal chords. He
was told to not sing or record for 9 months, and until after
surgery. He had
never seen a voice therapist until I informed him of the care
and attention we offer the singing world.
His hope was revived when he learned maximum
improvement could be achieved without surgery, and certainly a
year not go to waste.
Case
3
A world-wide known female vocalist was informed by her
physician that she would never hit her high notes again.
With knowledge of her vocal abuse and misuse I poured
into her, she not only avoided permanent damage, but following
KrisAdora’s daily vocal regime, she was able to have the
best voice ever, without surgery for 5 steady years.
Voice therapy is an absolute must for consideration
above 80% of all voice disorder cases for preventative and
non-surgical methods of treatment.
No surgery will ever leave the voice in its exact
condition prior to disease/injury.
Some
of you will never have a voice problem in your life, but for
the remaining 80% of you, you’ll cancel a
gig/concert/ministry assignment at some point due to your
voice.
